Adesse Gel Nail Polish in Surfer Girl

If you were keeping up with my Instagram stories and updates (@justsangy) you’ll know this was the polish that came in my Ipsy May Bag. Gone are the mornings on the beach and afternoons by the pool, yet this polish is just perfect if you are into soft colors and pastels like me.

In my opinion, getting gel nails without having to go to a salon is simply genius. Getting perfectly polished nails in minutes is definitely a dream come true – no buffing the nails like crazy, no UV lamps and no top coats either!

Here’s Adesse New York Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Surfer Girl

Adesse

What I Love –

  • It is 5 Free, Cruelty-Free, Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Petrochemical Free, GMO-Free, Triclosan Free and is totally Vegan
  • It is infused with organic bamboo extract, argan and shea oils to soothe and rejuvenate the nails
  • It has organic mica, minerals, and pigments to deliver high-definition color and super shiny finish that won’t chip or scratch
  • Its formula is super opaque and gives a flawless finish in 1-2 coats
  • It is long-wearing and fast drying nail polish long-wearing and fast drying nail polish that gives nails the “plump” look of a gel manicure without a UV or LED lamp.
  • It is also pretty shiny and looks like gel on nails
  • Its flat brush dispenses the perfect amount of polish on each nail, so it’s pretty much foolproof

Price – 18$

What I do not Love –

None

As much as the price seems scary, I am in love with the Adesse Surfer Girl’s color, formula and the finish of this polish. Plus, all the colors in this collection are super amazing. I might get some from this collection when I get the chance again to shop from US beauty stores.

What did you love about this polish? Have you tried any polish from this brand yet?

ColourPop Perky

ColourPop Perky is from ColourPop Cosmetics Holiday 2016 Collection. It is also another shade after Calypso that I totally loved. It is one of the soft muted colors which suit any skin tone. And unlike Calypso which has the satiny finish, Perky is an Ultra Matte Lip Color from ColourPop.

Also Read: ColourPop Calypso

Apparently, this shade seems to be out of stock or rather discontinued. So if you get a chance to grab this one, do by all means. That said, there are a bunch of colors both lip colors and eye colors which are being discontinued by ColourPop, so if you have something which you wanted to pick or restock, now is the time!

What I Love –

  1. It is a soft warm toned pink-brown
  2. It is browner than it looks in the tube
  3. It is perfect for any time of the day
  4. It is one of the soft neutral shades
  5. It has the ultra-matte finish
  6. It doesn’t settle in fine lines

What I do not Love –

  1. It is discontinued

Again, if you do not have pigmented lips (like me), this color can be used as is. Otherwise, using a matching (preferably a tiny bit darker) lip liner can do wonders!

That said, this color stayed on my lips for much longer than Calypso. But since it’s an Ultra Matte, using a lip scrub to buff the lips smooth and applying a generous amount of lip balm prior to applying the lip color seems to help a lot. Plus, the color stays and looks a lot better.

Going for kohl or smokey eye along with this lip color suits the most.

On another note, I am definitely disappointed that such a gorgeous color is being discontinued.

Have you tried this shade yet? What do you think?

ColourPop Mama

ColourPop Mama

ColourPop Mama is one shade I was way too curious and eager to try. It is one of the shades from the Up and Away Lip Bundle, with Love Bug and Calypso being the other two.

Also Read : ColourPop Love Bug

I have a thing for Lip Bundles and Lip Kits. These often have an interesting combo of colors to play around with.

Up and Above was one Lip Bundle I wanted so bad! So imagine my happiness when I tried Love Bug and fell in love with it at first swatch! It is definitely one of the most beautiful lip colors I own till date.

ColourPop Mama, on the other hand, is a huge disappointment for me. I was so rooting for this particular shade since summer is just around the corner, but unfortunately, not only this color washed me out completely, it also peels like crazy! Remember Rooch? Mama is like it’s sister!

I just hope my first attempt was not so lucky and I find a way to make this color work for me. I am thinking, a bit of brown should get a fancy color out of this to play around with but I am yet to find out if this peeling is consistent!

Coming back, here’s what ColourPop Mama looks like on me –

ColourPop Mama

ColourPop Mama

Price – 15$

Buy – Up and Away Lip Bundle

What I Love –

  1. It is a beautiful burnt orange color
  2. It is a perfect summer color plus a wonderful day wear lip color too
  3. It is one of the beautiful colors launched by the ColourPop

What I don’t Love –

  1. It peels just like Rooch
  2. It washes me off
  3. It is very drying (you can see in the images how dry my lips look)

I am not sure if am right on this, but I find ColourPop Mama to be very drying than the other Matte Lip Colors. I am yet to see how to make this work!

I was hoping to experiment this color with browns and burgundy for an entirely different shade. But, like I said, I am yet to find out a way if I can make this color work without getting it to peel.

If am successful, I will make sure to update this post on same. And if I don’t, then you know it’s better to stay away from this one. A peeling lipstick is no fun!

Have you tried this shade already? What’s your take on this?

Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick

Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick Collection | Rust Lust and Brazen Raisin

Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick Collection came just in time for the Valentines. This Liquid Lipstick Collection has a total of 10 shades, ranging from soft colors like Tan Fan which is a Mauve Nude to Pinks like Wine & Shine which is a beautiful Sangria color to Darker hues like Drop Dead Red which is a dark Red color.

Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick

While I am very curious about the Tan Fan shade {I loved their Holly Go Lightly (Matte as Hell Crayon Collection) and Breaking Bare (Vivid Lipstick Collection)}, am more eager to get my hands on Wine & Shine at the moment. I think it’s going to be a perfect Summer Party color (imagining the wedding and all that needs to be attended come this summer).

That said, they are also launching their next collection this month (so I guess) – Nail Colors in Classic and Matte. While I am super excited for the Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick Collection, I can’t wait to check out their Nail Colors Collection!

But for now, here’s what Rust Lust and Brazen Raisin shades from the Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick Collection look like –

Here’s what I love –

  1. Both these shades are perfect for day and night looks
  2. Both the colors are pretty and bold
  3. They work wonderfully as perfect Day wear lipsticks
  4. These are Fade proof, Smudge-proof and very Long lasting
  5. These are highly pigmented and matte colors

What I don’t Love –

  1. I don’t like the packaging and the applicator.

The brand has definitely set my expectations high with their Matte as Hell Lip Crayon Collection. I absolutely love the packing of that collection! When Smudge Me Not Collection packaging is compared to that, it definitely didn’t match my hopes!

Also, I find the applicator wand to be small and the tip slightly uncomfortable to get a precision application. Unlike other matte liquid lipsticks I have been trying recently, the wand is definitely small and the tip too wide.

But again, there is nothing a good lip brush can’t fix!

Besides, the formula and the colors from this collection are so amazing, I am seriously in love. Plus, these are definitely better than the ones I bought recently from other brands!

That said, if you are not into any packaging details much, this Collection is more than amazing. All the colors suit the Indian skin tones and there are 10 shades that will match every mood and preference.

As for me, Rust Lust is my top favorite at the moment! Though at times it looks a lot like Love Bug from ColourPop Cosmetics, Rust Lust is much brighter in person which makes it very appealing now that summer is just around the corner!

What have you picked from this collection? What’s your favorite?

Colourpop Love Bug

ColourPop Love Bug is my current obsession. I know I have been mentioning my love for many lip colors lately, but this one tops the list. I tried a similar shade earlier Holly Rose from 3CE Cosmetics from their Lily MayMac Collection. These two are the closest dupes I have tried recently and both I must say are equally good.

However, ColourPop Love Bug is much richer and deeper mahogany shade than the Holy Rose. Plus, being a liquid lipstick its application is by far the most flawless and the formula is long lasting.

Both are matte lip colors if one is softer shade the other one is richer in color. So if you aren’t so hung up on packaging (3CE Lily May Mac Holy Rose packaging is one to die for!) and are looking for a deep mahogany color, then ColourPop Love Bug is for you!

And if you are anything like me who wants to try first or simply want minis so it’s easy to carry around, you definitely need to get ColourPop Cosmetics It’s Vintage Lip Color Kit. It is a set of minis and it’s fantastic to have something so cute and tiny to carry around in the handbag. Plus, you get to try other shades too!

Today, am sharing the swatches and review of ColourPop Love Bug from that mini set –

Colourpop Love Bug

What I Love –

  1. Rich and deep mahogany color
  2. Long lasting Formula
  3. It applies creamy and sets as matte
  4. Its application is flawless
  5. It doesn’t transfer
  6. It comes as a part of a mini set and also in full size
  7. It is a perfect Valentine’s Day Color

What I don’t Love –

  1. It is very drying on lips

Price – 6$ (full size)

Buy – Love Bug

However, I observed that prepping the lips prior to the lip color application gives better results than applying as is. Using a lip scrub and a lip balm generously (am seriously considering finding an oil to use as the base for all my matte lip colors) before applying the lip color kept the color longer than usual and lips weren’t so dry either.

Plus, using a matching lip liner greatly helps. ColourPop Cosmetics has the matching lip liner with the same name which I certainly missed getting, but if you planning on purchasing this beautiful shade don’t forget to get that too. It indeed would make a perfect lip color this Valentine’s.

On a side note, invest in a good lip scrub and a lip balm.

And if you are concerned about the dry effect this lip color has, here’s a post by Temptalia where she did an amazing job of finding all the possible dupes. Definitely worth a look!

So what do you think of Colourpop Love Bug? Which color is your current obsession?

Maybelline Nail Polish Buried Treasure

Maybelline Nail Polish Buried Treasure

Maybelline Nail Polishes made into my stash quite a lot and until recently I didn’t realize I stocked up so many of these Maybelline Polishes.

While all of their Nail Polish Collections are good, I particularly love their ColorShow Collection. These are worth every rupee spent and make a wonderful change when I am in the mood for a quick and yet simple mani.

One of the best things about this Maybelline Nail Polishes is that they offer a variety of colors plus they are quite inexpensive.

I also tend to wait for the Sale time, when I can stock up on as many shades as I can.

Today am showing you one such polish which I happened to buy like ages ago and never tried until recently.

What I Love –

  1. Packaging is simple and cute
  2. Its brush design complements the formula with precise lacquer application
  3. The brush is conveniently wide enough to cover the nail in 2-3 strokes
  4. The Formula is flawless; it’s crème gloss finish and applies super easy
  5. In 1-2 coats, this polish gives a flawless opaque finish
  6. Long lasting and less expensive when compared to other higher end brands which claim similar formula and longevity
  7. Colors from this collection are amazing
  8. Chip-resistant and doesn’t need a top coat at all

Price – 100 ₹

Buy – Nykaa

As much as I liked this Maybelline Nail Polish Buried Treasure, there is one thing am unsure about this shade. The more coats you tend to apply the more golden hue is observed. It might not suit all skin tones and might look washed off on many. Also, it tends to look dull after a day or two.

On the other hand, this might look fabulous when applied over similar base color. This can tone down the golden hue and also may not look as washed off as before.

Have you tried Maybelline Nail Polish Buried Treasure yet? What are your thoughts?

Sephora Formula X Nail Polish Brain Child

Sephora Formula X Nail Polish Brain Child has to be one of my favorite nail colors till date. It practically looks like MAC Heroine (lipstick) on nails! Plus the crème gloss finish gives a super flawless finish which makes this all the more appealing. Before I go on with what I love and what I don’t, here are the swatches for you –

Sephora Formula X Nail Polish Brain Child

  3. The customized brush design is engineered to complement Formula X’s highly-pigmented formula with precise lacquer application
  4. The brush is conveniently wide enough to cover the nail in 2-3 strokes

  8. Colors from this collection are amazing
  9. Chip-resistant and doesn’t need a top coat at all

What I don’t Love –

  1. These are not available in India
  2. Most of the colors from this Collection are discontinued

Price – 10.50$

Buy – Sephora

Overall, it is one of the must-have shades if you can get your hands on. While I got mine from Sephora US store a couple of months ago, this doesn’t seem to be available online for sure. That said, the polishes from this collection are amazing in the formula. So if you find something that you like, don’t even think twice!

I have 2 more shades to show you from this Collection, which I will cover in coming posts.

And if you are heading to the online store of Sephora right now, don’t forget to check out the neutral shades they have got. They look amazing and I definitely have my eyes on them at the moment.

But if you are heading to the store, do look out for their Pastels Collection. Unfortunately, they seem to be out of stock/not available anymore kinda situation. Either way, do check out this collection by Sephora, am sure you won’t regret it!

P.s – As I draft this post and refreshed the page, I see lesser colors and collection. Was that a glitch I saw more shades before? Or was I day dreaming of this collection? I can’t say for sure!

But you keep an eye on this collection 😉

Color Cocktailing | Lakme Burgundy Lush + NYX Embellishment

Color Cocktailing

Color Cocktailing has been on my mind a lot lately plus it is so much fun to customize my own colors. If you have been following me for a while now, you’d know I have been experimenting it quite often.

Today am here to show you one of my favorites from such color mixing.

Color Cocktailing | Lakme Burgundy Lush + NYX Embellishment

Color Cocktailing

For this, I have used two colors which have the similar formula – Burgundy Lush from Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mouse Lip and Cheek color Collection and Embellishment from NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie Collection.

While the formula of these two is same, they are matte; both the colors have totally different tones!

Burgundy Lush is a dark color with the warm undertone, while Embellishment is the soft color with cool undertone; which when combined gave a soft, muted yet lush color which is perfect for everyday wear.

I have a real thing for matte lip colors at the moment and I totally love NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Creams and Lip Lingerie Collection as well as Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Colors. Each of these collections has different shades which make this all the more fun in the stocking. Plus, they work harmoniously well when mixed.

All this and I got no complaints of feathering and/or blotching.

Now the big plus, this color cocktail stayed on me for a long time and I am not complaining. I find this particular color combination very oddly comforting. It is a pretty sexy color and yet very sweet and soft color on lips. It has that warmth but enough cool undertone to be appropriate for any occasion.

This is definitely my personal favorite and I can’t wait to see what else gets into my *Love-it* list.

Maybelline Newyork Firewood Brown from Bright Sparks Collection

Maybelline NewYork Firewood Brown is an all time favorite of mine. While I love bright and pastel colors for my nails for all Spring/Summer but with season change I often turn to colors like browns, taupes, and greys. And now that the winds and clouds have taken a turn and we might experience super cold climate for a little more longer, I thought this shade would be just perfect to show you.

Firewood Brown is from the Maybelline Newyork Bright Sparks Collection which was launched a while ago. While others are uber bright, this one shade from the collection seems just perfect for the colder months.
Here are the swatches –
Maybelline Newyork Firewood Brown
Maybelline Newyork Firewood Brown
I personally love this color way too much. It is a beautiful neutral shade that can never go out of the trend plus it is not very expensive.
Besides, it’s crème gloss formula dries quickly and the color doesn’t fade or chip soon. It is also not streaky and just needs a coat or two to get the opaque finish.

This shade is a perfect wood brown color and suits most of the Indian skin tones. And if you love to change colors for the Colder months, just like me, this is the one you shouldn’t miss trying.

Price – 85 ₹ (64 ₹ on Nykaa, 100 ₹ + delivery charges on Flipkart)

Now that I have got myself a brown shade, am off hunting for some greys and taupes. This reminds me am sure I have those colors in my stash already and I just hope I find them in time before the season passes. Lol

Lyn Lacquers | Bunny Nose and Lady Luck Lilac Swatches Review

Beauty
Lyn Lacquers

Lyn Lacquers

Lyn Lacquers has been my favorite ever since I first swatched their polish in shade Bunny Nose. From then on I got myself quite a few shades from them. And as much as I love all their polishes, two of them are my all-time favorite.

Lyn Lacquers

  1. Lyn Lacquers Bunny Nose from Pinks Collection
  2. Lyn Lacquers Lady Luck Lilac from Plumps Collection

Here are the swatches –

Lyn Lacquers

Lyn Lacquers

Lyn Lacquers

Lyn Lacquers

What I Love –

  • These lacquers come in simple square shaped bottles, a nice change from the routine.
  • They have crème gloss finish.
  • A coat or two is enough to get the opacity
  • They dry quickly.
  • Brush bristles are wide enough to cover the nail in a stroke or two.
  • Has a wide range of colors.

What I don’t love –

  • The scent is slightly pungent for my liking.

Lyn Lacquers Bunny Nose from Pinks Collection is not solid beige, but a soft warm-hued pink with beige undertones. It’s an on-trend nail color with a touch of pink and beige making this as a perfect compromise for anyone who doesn’t prefer all/solid beige on nails.

However, on the other side whoever has been wearing a lot of beige lately; this shade would be a wonderful change since it has a hint of pink.

On the upside, it is an awesome shade to have this season.

On the other hand, Lady Luck Lilac is another shade that’s so apt for the season. A soft muted purple that gives way to pretty lilac shade, it suits any skin tone and reminds of the color that would be a great option this season.

Overall, a must buy if you have been into brights a lot lately as this shade makes such a nice change from the routine and not to forget it’s also a perfect color for any season.
